Journey towards autonomous cranes
Enhance your operations with MacGregor's state-of-the-art automated cranes. Our cutting-edge solution combines advanced electric drive technology to deliver improved safety, enhanced efficiency, and extended equipment lifetime. Experience increased capacity and reduced dependency on operators, stepping into a new era of cost-efficient, productive, and sustainable maritime operations.
Efficiency and Reliability with MacGregor Automated Cranes
In the ever-evolving maritime industry, efficiency and reliability are paramount. MacGregor Automated Cranes are designed to meet your operational needs, offering a cutting-edge solution. Our Automed Discharging Crane ensures safe, smart, and efficient unloading of cargo, maximising efficiency, minimising discharging time, and extending the lifespan of your equipment.
Advanced Technology for Superior Performance
Our automated cranes leverage advanced LIDAR sensors to scan and plan the unloading process. This ensures precise movements and optimal positioning, reducing the need for manual intervention. The Auto-Grip system, powered by machine learning, adapts to different material characteristics, preventing issues like overloading and ensuring smooth operations. The built-in anti-collision and Auto Motion systems enhance safety and reliability, giving you peace of mind.
Case ESL Shipping
ESL Shipping, a leading operator in the Baltic Sea, has successfully implemented MacGregor's highly automated cranes on their LNG-powered vessel, M/S Viikki. The Finnish company makes extensive use of cranes in its daily operations and sought a solution for enhancing efficiency while reducing crew workload.
Mikki Koskinen, Managing Director, ESL Shipping: "The automated system helps us to keep our operations running smoothly without encroaching on our crew members’ mandatory rest time."
With our highly automated crane technology, companies benefit from increased safety and efficiency as the crane works within a defined framework to prevent collisions and minimise human error,” comments Mikael Hägglund, Sales Manager, Self-Unloading Systems and Cranes, MacGregor."
Designed for Challenging Conditions
MacGregor’s automated crane system is built to withstand challenging wind and sea conditions. Continuous motion measurement and swing dampening ensure stable operations, while the Bridge Drivers Desk allows for remote initiation and supervision of autonomous operations, with manual control options available if needed.
Five Levels Towards Full Autonomy
MacGregor's journey towards autonomous cranes is divided into five levels.
-
Level 1 (assisted) supports the operator with anti-pendulation and anti-collision features.
-
Level 2 (partially automated) adds auto-motion, auto-grip, and bridge monitoring for limited automation with human oversight.
-
Level 3 (highly automated) is the most advanced, performing tasks autonomously with features like bridge control, cargo scan, and power-balance mode.
-
Levels 4 and 5 (fully automated and autonomous) are still in development.
MacGregor's systems improve safety, efficiency, and reduce maintenance by minimising wear on crane components.
